Book a Class

Here at Fuzzie Wuzzie Wool Rugs we love to share our knowledge with anyone that is interested.   We have much fun teaching and sharing how to do what we do.  So, if you want to book a class we are willing to come see you for a day or a weekend.  Click on the link listed here  to book a class for you and your friends; or to register for an up coming class in your area.

We are willing to do

• 4-H classes,
• come to your church,
• civic centers
• or in private homes.

We teach classes on the rugs as well as the baskets.  If you have never crocheted before you too can learn to make a rug in our class.  The same is true for the basket classes, you too can learn to make a coil basket.

The rug class is fun, easy and last about 2-3 hours

(depending on how much fun everyone is having).   Each rug class we teach how to make an oval rug.  Making an oval rug is the easiest to start with.

In the class we have you pick out

• 6 pounds of wool
• the correct size hook
• and we give you two free patterns, (the oval rug and the round rug patterns).

Then we walk you through step by step teaching you how to read the pattern and learn each stitch.

We not only show examples up front where everyone can see, we give individual help where needed.

In the class you also learn

• to change and add different colors
• to hide small mistakes
• read your stitches with your fingers instead of your eyes
• finish off your rug so no one knows where you started or stopped

We laugh a lot, we make mistakes, but in the end fun is had by everyone, not to mention you walk away with a handmade wool rug.  Most of our students have a  2′ x 3′ rug finished or most of the way finished by the end of a class. As you make more rugs at home and get the hang of how easy it is most people can make a rug in an hour or so.

Our basket class is just as much fun but takes about 3-4 hours to finish a small  8″-10″ round basket with handles.   In this class we have you pick out

• 1-1.5 pounds of wool,
• your shuttle
• and 14 yards of welt cord
• with a free basket pattern.

You start out learning how to coil the bottom of your basket and then stack the sides.  We show you

• how to change colors
• incorporate handles
• and  finish off your basket.

Most of our students have a basket finished or  3/4 of the way finished.   This small basket makes a great way to learn the process of the coil basket, then you can make just about any shape or size you would like.   Make a project basket big enough to fit your wool and a started basket or a started rug to keep by your favorite chair.  The possiblities are endless.

To Book a class we request you have a minimum of 10 students if you are 50 to 100 miles from us;  if you are futher than that ( 150 miles or more) and we have lots of travel to do we perfer you have a minimum of 15 students.

If we have never been in your area to teach we need help booking a place or venu to hold the class.  Some of the many places we have held classes are:

• Private homes
• Libraries
• Anywhere we can fit 10- 15 people in their own seat
